Metcalf: Big Ten Wrestler of the Week

149-pounder Brent Metcalf was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week this week.

The defending Big Ten and NCAA Champion's accomplishments this season include:
  • No. 1 in the nation
  • 29-0 record
  • 15 pins
  • Scored bonus points in 27 matches

I'd say he qualifies as the Big Ten Wrestler of the Season.

  1. You have to admire the way Metcalf has wrestled this season. Seems like an outstanding individual leader who wants to win and win big. I think Brands is proving his teaching methods effective and having been an Olympian himself, knows what it takes to keep striving even when you are already the best.

  2. I have really developed a liking for Phil Keddy. To me, he is very Brent Metcalf-eque — strong, quick, shows excellent offense at times, wants to be the best. I think he is my favorite wrestling right now. In fact, if I had to ranked the team, 1-10, in my preference for them (wrestling and mentality only), it would go:

    1. Keddy, 2. Metcalf, 3. Dennis, 4. Falck, 5. Beatty, 6. Tsirtsis, 7. Borschel, 8. Morningstar, 9. Erekson, 10. Ballweg
